I'm Joanna, and this is my page you've stumbled on. Granted, it's not much, but I'm working on it. Or I will be, if I ever get around to it. I don't know enough to make this easy, and I'm not often in a mood to fight the computer.
Nice picture, eh? Heh. Here, have another one:

I love music. My favorite musicians are Great Big Sea, Indigo Girls, and David LaMotte.
The picture on the right is of Great Big Sea,from their tourbook. Which i'm too cheap to buy - broke college student and all that. There's more GBS related stuff farther down the page.
When I was living on the other coast, I was also in the youth and adult choirs at Manassas Presbyterian Church, and Symphonic Choir at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. I was briefly a member of the Shakespeare Troupe Madrigals, but as I said, it was very briefly.
I'm also very involved with my church. (Well, I was. When I lived on that side of the country. And hadn't been made agnostic by the Campus Crusade.) Senior year, I was the youth co-chair of the National Capital Presbytery Youth Connection. Summer of 98 I went to the Presbyterian Youth Triennium, and it was one of the most awesome times I've ever had. Almost as good as the Montreat Youth Conferences I've been to.
For three years, I lived at CTY. Well, not really, given how CTY is a three week long summer camp, but you know what I mean. It stands for "the Centur for Tlented Yuth". I mean, "the Center for Talented Youth." (Or maybe "the center for transvestite yodelers". That has a nice ring to it...) Those nine weeks were among the best of my life. I went to the Dickinson site in Carlisle, PA, and took writing 1 and 2, and fiction. I'm still trying to figure out how exactly to explain what CTY means to me. In the meantime, you can read Robin Bose's idea, Stairway to CTY. Yeah, so it's long. It's good. Still makes me cry, and I've read it a lot...
I go to Lewis & Clark College, where I'm a freshman. I'm going to Scotland next semester! ::bounce:: The only problem is that now that I actually have access to a tv, I've become obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Stop laughing. I mean it. And that's not the problem; the problem is lack of consistent access to a tv when I'm in Scotland. ::sigh:: No sooner do I develop addictions than I get forced into withdrawal. Must... have.... Spike...
No, I don't have a major yet. I'm interested in anything except math, science, and technology. Yes, I realize how ironic that is (see above info on my high school.)I was a misfit drama kid there, though - or more accurately, one of Shakespeare Troupe's token seniors. Troupe being the bastard child of the TJ drama program. That's actually a link to the unofficial ST page, but the person who made the official page is a jerk and doesn't really have the authority to make an official troupe page.
I volunteer at the Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire in Philomath, OR, and attempt to go to lots of SCA events. I'm in the kingdom of An Tir, the Principality of Three Mountains, I think. Not sure about that, though. I was hoping to come home and work (for money, even) in the summer at the Virginia Renaissance Faire, usually referred to as VARF. Except it closed ::growl:: I'll make up for it by going to as many SCA events as possible in Atlantia. (This summer I'm living in Stierbach.)
This pic was taken in Vancouver, BC at the Halloween Great Big Sea concert, and is part of a long story which you can read here; basically i was requesting Blister in the Sun. Yes, they're a celtic band. And ::evil grin::, yes, it worked.
feel free to contribute to the "bring joanna home for spring break 2000" fund.
you no longer get to have a song in this space. you can, however, have a very interesting essay about sex that i wrote.
If you have something to say, say it to [email protected]. (That's me, by the way, not just some random email address.)
